Educational Resources
The District's education program, on a limited basis, consists of classroom presentations, teacher seminars, and presentations to civic and church groups. The District also participates in events such as Earth Day, County Waterfest and 4-H Fair. The District also sponsors an annual poster contest and assists in the planning and participates in the New Jersey Envirothon, an environmental competition for high school students.
Free Publications and Resources
The Gloucester Soil Conservation District has many FREE publications available to residents of Gloucester County. We have many posters, booklets, pamphlets, educator tool kits, vhs tapes, and activity books covering natural resource topics such as: backyard conservation, forestry, agriculture, watersheds, the water cycle, soils, and soil erosion, to name a few. Please visit our office or contact the education coordinator for more information.
SESC Training Programs for Contractors
The Gloucester County Soil Conservation District, Rowan University, and the NJ Department of Agriculture has developed a Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Course for Contractors. This one-day lecture and one half-day field course was designed to to refresh the professionals on the installation and maintenance of soil erosion and sediment control measures in the field and how to be in compliance with your certified Soil Erosion & Sediment Control Plan.
